Carolyn was preparing for an overseas mission trip and needed help setting up an efficient system of financial accounting. As the team treasurer it was her responsibility to keep track of the team’s finances, including distributing funds to team members throughout the trip, exchanging currency, and keeping track of the budget and receipts so follow-up paperwork could be submitted soon after their return. We worked with Carolyn to create a simple system of recordkeeping, two financial forms to track expenses, and put together a portable “office” to organize everything in a compact portfolio. Carolyn’s advance preparation was well worth it, as she was better able to enjoy the trip and focus on the people they went to help, while efficiently and confidently fulfilling her responsibilities as team treasurer.
